A warm and comfortable welcome

The cottages are very comfortable, beautiful and well equipped. We were the first guests to stay after the renovations. Fiona and her family were very helpful and gave us a warm welcome. Their attention to detail and assistance with any queries was beyond what would be expected.

We had experience of both cottages as my brother's family rented the other one, which was slightly larger and allowed pets. As a group of 11 we could all comfortably eat in the dining area of the larger cottage if we wished to. We even cooked a full christmas dinner, Fiona had even provided roasting trays for the turkey!

The weather was very cold, with snow, but the cottages were very warm. The log burners very efficient. Logs were provided. The beds were very comfortable with high quality cotton bedding. The bathrooms were very modern. Everything was of a high standard.

There are many walks in the area and an enjoyable short walk into the town of Pontardawe along the river. The cottages are centrally placed to gain access by car to Swansea and the Gower coast as well as to the Black Mountains.

If you require a friendly, comfortable place to stay which is like a home from home in this area then Cwmshon Cottages are the place to book.

Christmas in Wales

We arrived in the snow for a Christmas family break to be welcomed by a roaring wood burner which set the scene for the week. The cottage was more spacious than some we have stayed in, providing more than enough room for myself and my wife, four teenagers and dog.

The cottage was very well equipped with and felt very homely. Off street parking made the food shopping trips very easy, with the local shops and large supermarket a 5 minute drive away. The provision of free wi-fi kept the boys happy, and the log burner provided better entertainment than the TV for the evenings.

The walk in to Pontardawe along the river is very pleasant and the local shops and pubs welcoming and varied. The Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons are on the door step nearly, with the Gower coast half an hour away. If it had been the summer the local golf clubs looked well worth a visit. We had a very pleasant relaxing week here having enjoyed the comfort of the cottage in a Welsh winter. We did manage to have a large family get together for Christmas lunch, for which the owners helped with extra chairs with no problem at all.

If you want luxury, the comforts of home and more, a warm friendly welcome, you must visit Cwmshon Cottages

What a beautifull place to stay, the cottage has been so tastefully restored, modern yet has kept the cosy cottage feel. The cottage was much larger than we expected. After a long drive (10 hours) what a fantastic house to arrive at with a lovely warm welcome by Fiona. We were amazed by how beautiful the cottage was. Tastefully furnished - everything we could have hoped for and more, nothing was too much trouble. The log burner was just wonderful. As so many have already mentioned in the visitors book - too much to do and not enough time to do it all in.

The information on days out was brilliant. We did as much as we could and managed 2 days at the beach. Oxwich Bay is a must.... what a lovely sandy beach.. The luxurious beds in the cottage are just out of this world to get into after a long, full, active day. Fiona's honey is just the best and when we had family visit they were just blown away with the high standard of the cottage. Cannot fault a thing. We will definitely recommend your cottage to our friends.... and thank you for the best holiday!. We wish you every success as you deserve it.

If your after a holiday cottage of an excellent standard then this is your next place to stay, you must visit to appreciate it, this place would be just as amazing as a romantic, quiet, peacefull and relaxing get away. What a treat.

Fabulous cottage, cosy, clean and included all the commodities we needed.

We were two couples, a 22 month old and a 3 month old travelling for a long weekend stay in Pontadawe to explore that area of Wales and we had a great time. We arrived at the cottage to find home made cake, tea and milk ready for a much needed snack before we unloaded and went to pick up fresh supplies. The cottage was clean, very well furnished and cosy. We all wished to have such a great kitchen at home. There was also a fireplace which was a treat and an outside bench and table for meals on warm days. We managed one meal as it was late in the year for al fresco dinning but we lit the fireplace every evening. The beds were incredibly comfortable and we were provided with cots and a highchair for the children.

Our hosts Fiona and Andrew were warm, friendly and very helpful. There were also folders with much appreciated suggestions and information about the many activities and places to visit as well as local take outs.

Good location for drives to explore Brecon Beacon and the Gower peninsula.

Long live wales

A really lovely, cosy and well equipped house. The information about what to see in Wales was very useful – it made the sight-seeing more profound. Thank you for that! But the best part of the stay was your friendly and kind personalities!

Best wishes for your cottage and you! P.S. Loved the cake.

Very comfortable cottage, great Welsh beaches, very warm welcome by owner! What more can you ask for!

We were welcomed by the lovely owner Fiona, who lives right next door with her family. Nothing is too much for her to make your stay a great one. We loved it in Pontardawe. We expected a week of rain and clouds but instead we were treated to a week of Mediterranean weather …. we spent most of our days on the fantastic Welsh beaches. People back in Holland thought we enjoyed a nice holiday in the Caribbean because of our tan!

The cottage is extremely comfortable and clean. It has everything you wish for. You can make day trips to Cardiff, the Mumbles. The area is extremely suitable for fanatic golf players. Golf courses are basically on every corner of the street. Our son played on the lovely Langlandbay Course, pretty close to Pontardawe.

Very comfortable cottage in good location

This is a very well equipped cottage which has been professionally and tastefully renovated.

It is located in a quiet part of Pontardawe which is a very convenient location for trips to the Brecon Beacons, Glamorgan and also the coast. The owners are very accommodating and you can expect to receive a very warm welcome.

Highly recommended.

Wonderful Week

We were one of the first sets of visitors to stay in these cottages and I have to say we were very impressed with the property. Everything has been well thought out for guests comfort and we were very comfortable. The bathrooms were hotel standard and very plush. The location was brilliant and made a great base for trips to Swansea and beyond and Brecon Beacon area. The welcome pack was a thoughtful, helpful touch and the beds really comfy.

Beware of the portion size at the local Chinese takeaway its huge! We look forward to a future visit when we are able.

Conveniently located to see the best of South Wales

We have had a fabulous holiday here! There is so much to do - a week is not long enough. Your suggestions on day trips and beaches to visit were very helpful and we found some special walks.

The cottage is comfortable and very nice to come back to - the fire was lovely even though it wasn't cold enough to use! Even two days in torrential rain didn't spoil things - it was atmospheric and an experience to drive in it!

Thank you very much for your assistance. We'll be back soon!

Fantastic property, well located for walking and mountain biking

We had a fabulous long weekend in the first week of April - wish we could have stayed longer. There was a lovely walk up behind the cottage, but also it's only a short(ish) drive to Afan Forest and the superb mountain bike trails.

The owners were lovely and there were lots of small touches, such as a home-made cake waiting for you after your journey and a well-equipped, secure bike shed in the garden.

We are definitely planning a return trip later this year.

High spec accommodation giving access to coast and hills

We really can't recommend this property highly enough! The house is finished to a really high standard, the attention to detail to make any stay as comfortable as possible is tremendous. The owners are great, approachable and enthusiastic. Located in Pontadawe you have easy access to the Gower and the Brecon Beacons. Even a trip to Cardiff, undoubtedly one of the UK's best cities, is no more than an hour away.

We have yet to find better and our two small energetic boys agree!

This is the best cottage I have ever rented . The rooms ,the beds ,the bathroom and off course the kitchen are all of a great standard and decorated with a lot of care and love. Beautiful area. The country side is just around the corner with stunning vieuws.

After a long ride from the Netherlands with kids and grandma and grandad we had a great warm welcome.

Gorgeous cottages in a beautiful location

We had a fabulous few days in this cottage. We were really comfortable and the fire was a real treat. Everything in the house has been carefully thought out and we enjoyed an extremely relaxing break.

Fiona was so helpful and there was a lovely folder of suggested walks etc which made it really easy for us to choose what to do each day.

We wish we could have been there longer! We really hope to return ourselves this year.

Just perfect for a cosy getaway with friends and a good bottle of wine!

A whole group of us rented both cottages for a hen weekend away and we had such a great time!

The cottages are just so beautifully done..and so clean!

From the moment we arrived, the cake and tea and the owners recommendations made us feel completely at home.
There is so much to do in the area..but the amazing kitchen facilities and log fire meant we spent most of the time cooking and curling up in the lounge with a good film (they provide a huge selection of these too!)

Overall just a really wonderful weekend and we really would recommend it to anyone.

Beautiful Cottage

We stayed at Cwmshon Cottages in July 2011 and could not fault the property at all. Every small detail had been thought of to make this a real 'home from home'

The cottage was immaculately clean and comfortable and we were made to feel very welcome by the owners.

I would wholeheartedly recommend these cottages and we are looking forward to returning soon.
