Eating out and local facilities

Our guests love our location – being on the outskirts of a small town means you are not marooned at the end of a mountain track far from facilities. Everything you need is within a 10-15 minute walk or 2 minute drive making it easy to pop out if you've forgotten the wine for your meal.

There are several supermarkets, including a large Tesco, an excellent award winning local butchers, simply called Ponty Butchers (tel. 01792 863197) and if you don't want to cook, Pontardawe has lots of restaurants and some take-aways, including fish and chips, Indian and Chinese. The Butchers Arms in Altwen is always popular with locals and of the several Indian restaurants, The Indian Cottage has a reputation for its a warm welcome and friendly service.

Further afield the restaurant scene in Swansea is always changing so it is hard to recommend but you could look at the independent reviews of fellow diners on Tripadvisor to see who is recommended.

Our personal favoutite is Y Polyn informal , great food, a bit of a drive (40 minutes) but combines well with a day out to the Botanic Gardens and Aberglasney, with lunch in between. Always busy, so advance booking reommended.

Other facilities in the town include:
